As with many dating app upgrades, their increased privacy methods have made it harder to find someone.Today, I’ll explain how to find someone’s dating profile, whether that’s a past match, lost love, or to check whether a partner is cheating.

Here’s how you do it: Log into your OkCupid profile. Click on your profile thumbnail (you can find this on the top right corner of your screen) When the drop-down menu appears, click on “Find a User”. You will see a white box with the words, “search by username”. Type the username here. Her profile will appear as a search result.

However, if you set your Looking For to “located anywhere” you will also see people located anywhere who are looking for people in your location.

How do I only see people in my state/ country?

At the moment, we don’t have a way to filter by state or national borders. Instead, we filter by distance only.

We're considering adding an option to filter by state/country, but it is not a currently available feature.

How can I only see people from far away?

The only way to prevent people near your location from seeing you is to go Incognito. This allows you to only be seen by people whose profiles you’ve liked.
