Slide Christian Dating App :: We Stumbled Upon This One
When searching for “Christian dating” apps in the App Store, the first result that came up was the Slide Christian Dating app. We were intrigued since it wasn’t one we’d heard of before.
How To Use Christian Mingle For Free
After all, it had glowing reviews. All 50 were 5-star ratings with comments saying it was the Christian dating app they’d been waiting for. Since Crosspaths, the Christian dating app from the creators of Christian Mingle, followed right behind it and only had 29 reviews, many of which were subpar, Slide was in the lead.
The graphics on the app page left a little to be desired. The red ichthus with a thumbs down and a green ichthus with a thumbs up made us roll our eyes in Christian embarrassment. Ridiculous use of Jesus fishes aside, we figured we’d give it a shot and see if, beyond bad graphic design, someone finally created a Christian dating app that we could get behind.
Christian Mingle dating app Registration. The app is just as easy to register with as the website is. The biggest advantage of the app is that it is a little more user-friendly, giving mobile users on the go a simple way to browse Christian Mingle. ️ Contacting users with Christian Mingle chat. Slide Christian Dating App :: Let’s Break It Down…
If you’ve ever used Tinder, Hinge, Crosspaths, or nearly any other mobile-only dating app, Slide works pretty much the same way.
Download Christian Mingle App
You’ll connect your Slide profile via your Facebook account. It will include your profile pictures, your geography, and your Facebook likes. You can add your denominational preference, the name of your church (if you desire), how frequently you attend church, along with a small About Me paragraph.
One negative we saw upfront was that there’s nowhere to share alcohol or cigarette use like there is on other apps. Both of those areas can be deal breakers for some, so it was a glaring omission.
Once you set up your account, which takes less than a minute, you will start receiving matches based on geography. Ideally, you’ll have plenty of matches right around you. However, Slide is lacking in the match department when compared to eharmony, Match, or Christian Mingle or when compared to mobile-only dating apps like Tinder or Hinge. We didn’t restrict our matches based on age or geography and quickly got to the end of matches within 100 miles of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The lack might be because the Slide Christian Dating app is new; it might be because no one knows about it. We’re not sure, but we’ll get to that later.
On a basic level, Slide seems easy to use. Connect to Facebook, set up your profile, decide to decline a match (thumbs down) or express interest (thumbs up). If you express interest, the match won’t know unless they, too, express interest in you. And if you both do, then you can move to chatting with each other. If you don’t share an interest, neither will know.
But that’s about where the ease of use ends when it comes to Slide.
Slide Christian Dating App :: There Are a Lot of Unknowns
A Slide profile appears to be designed to tell you more about a person than just their photo and denominational preference, but it fails to do so.
For example, when you look at a person’s profile, you can see a lot of icons with numbers beside them: a question mark, a people icon, a book, a film reel, a television, and a camera. We know that the camera identifies how many profile photos that match has. We assume the tv, book, film reel and their accompanying numbers are there to tell you how many books, tv shows, and movies you and the match share a Facebook interest in. However, you can’t touch those icons to get more information. That feature would be really helpful for discerning more about a match.
Case in point: If you both have a shared interest in Francis Chan’s book Crazy Love, that might be a good conversational topic. But instead, Slide just tells you that you and a match have 4 books in common. Considering all the books by all the authors in all the world, that’s not really helpful.
Slide does show you a list of all of the Facebook likes you have in common with a match, but those common likes are in a very small list of profile photos and you can’t click on them to enlarge them. So, essentially, the list isn’t helpful unless you can identify a Facebook page’s profile pic without the Facebook page actually being listed. For example, if you went to the SingleRoots Facebook page, you’d see our logo as our profile pic. If you and a match both liked SingleRoots, all you would see on his/her profile is the SingleRoots logo. Considering all the Facebook likes you have and all of the Facebook page profile pics that aren’t easily identifiable, this doesn’t give you much to go on. Not to mention that they are tiny which makes things even more difficult.
Essentially, if there’s something on a match’s profile that you want to click on to enlarge or read more, you can’t. The same thing goes for the About Me paragraph. If the person has written more than 2 lines, it won’t show up beyond that small amount. So the About Me section is more like a Tweet About Me (140 characters or less), but you’re not given a limit anywhere.
Furthermore, there’s also something call Photo Flashes and an Activity Tab. If we were guessing, it’s something similar to a Snapchat feature because it has a 24-hour limit, you can add text to it, and people can give it a thumbs up. But we’re still not clear about how this works either.
We just can’t figure out some aspects of the app. Like, we have no idea what the question mark icon or the person icon means. On other mobile-only dating apps that are connected to Facebook, the person icon means the number of people you have in common with the match on Facebook. But that’s not the case on this app. We think it’s representative of other friends they have on the app, but we can’t confirm it anywhere.
Which is another problem…
The FAQs on the site are limited and don’t answer many questions outside of matching issues. You can get assistance by contacting the developers, but there should be an easier way to find out more about Slide than by having to write an email with your questions. Granted, it’s a free app, but the lack of explanation about the features on the app is annoying. We searched for reviews, for interviews, for other apps the developer has created—any breadcrumbs we could find to learn more about the app or find where someone else had figured out the things we couldn’t, but we kept coming up empty-handed.
Slide Christian Dating App :: Bottom Line
We don’t know if the Slide Christian Dating app was created by Christians or not, and we don’t know how long it has been around. But more than anything, we don’t know how it got the 50+ 5-star reviews. There are several other apps we’d recommend before Slide for sure. There’s a reason we hadn’t heard of it until we stumbled upon it in the app store. For better mobile-only dating options, check out our list of the Best Christian Dating apps.
